Skills and Perspectives You Need to Get Started as an Actor
In this foundation (beginners) class, you are introduced to the Haber Philosophy, which guides actors on how to create using your creative mind, rather than the technical. In a fun and safe setting, you'll gain valuable on-camera experience and develop the basic skills needed for successful auditions, self taping, creating a character, and “Living the Life”.
Every aspiring actor has to start somewhere. This class is essential for anyone who wants to act and audition but has not had a lot of experience in front of the camera or on a stage.
This class will show you how to find your authentic voice, audition for film and TV, and build your confidence. You will learn about self taping, working on-camera, creating a character and “Living the Life”! We call this training our FOUNDATION INTENSIVE because it teaches you the essential skills and perspectives that you need as a foundation for your goals as an actor.
After you complete the Foundation Intensive, you’ll be able to manage your nerves, understand the basics of cold reading and creating a life, and auditing with confidence. You’ll understand what it means to be part of the acting community, so you can feel at home moving forward with your creative life.
MEET YOUR INSTRUCTORS
JACK PERRY
After receiving a BA in Theatre Arts from Penn State University, Jack worked in New York City as a theater actor, appearing on stages such as Barrow Street Theatre, Ars Nova, and The NY International Fringe Festival before moving to LA to pursue TV and Film work. He has appeared on 30 Rock, Ugly Betty, Team Umizoomi, American Horror Story, To Tell the Truth, and a gazillion commercials. He was nominated for Best Actor at the 2021 Pictures Up! Film Festival for the short Rat Mom.
LISA CARSWELL
Lisa worked and trained as a stage actress in Seattle, earning her BFA cum laude from the Cornish Acting Conservatory in 1991. She has appeared in many local and regional commercials. Her initiation into episodic television was a co-star on Grimm and soon after a guest star on Z Nation. Lisa’s had the opportunity to work on many NW indie films over the years, several of which can now be seen on Amazon Prime.
